Ushers Needed + New Events!!


At present we are short-staffed for the following events. All these events are accessible via either the Sign Up or Waiting List links after you log in with your username and password. Additional events will become available, so please add yourself to the waiting list for all events of interest.

2018 Bayside Summer Usher Orientation


It’s time to prepare for the San Diego Symphony’s 2018 Bayside Summer Nights concerts. We ask that all ushers sign up for and attend one of our usher orientations. Please invite your friends and acquaintances to learn more about our volunteer opportunities. Experienced Symphony Pops ushers are requested to attend the first half of the meeting. We will have two sets of orientations (usher and floor captain), both on Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24, at the San Diego Symphony's Summer Pops site (Embarcadero Marina Park South, 206 Marina Park Way, San Diego, CA 92101).

SATURDAY JUNE 23 (9-11:15 am) A general orientation will run from 9-11:15 am. Our experienced Summer Pops ushers will be released by 10:15 am. Prospective and new ushers will then receive an overview of the volunteer program with open discussion to answer questions before we finish no later than 11:15 am.

For those experienced ushers interested in learning more about the floor captain duties/responsibilities and refining ways to handle challenging situations, we will hold a FLOOR CAPTAIN meeting from 10:00 - 11:15 am on Saturday (6/23).

SUNDAY, JUNE 24 (9-11:15 am) A general orientation will run from 9-11:15 am. Our experienced Summer Pops ushers will be released by 10:15 am. Prospective and new ushers will then receive an overview of the volunteer program with open discussion to answer questions before we finish no later than 11:15 am.

For those experienced ushers interested in learning more about the floor captain duties/responsibilities and refining ways to handle challenging situations, we will hold a FLOOR CAPTAIN meeting from 10:00 - 11:15 am on Sunday (6/24).

On both days we will start promptly. Volunteers will pick up their parking passes, learn of any new policies, and participate in "lessons learned" discussions. We will meet in the grandstand or another designated area on site so please enter through the back gate north of the pier, bring a hat, sun screen protection, and a pen to take notes. Please try to carpool and arrive early since parking may be limited directly adjacent to the site. Keep in mind there are nearby lots, if the adjacent parking spaces are full. However, account for the time to walk over to the site from these other lots.

Please make sure you log into the usher website using your username and password and sign up for the orientation(s) of your choice. If you are not currently an usher, you can register on the website and should receive a username and password within 48 hours of registration to access the website.
